Choosing the perfect web hosting company

There are many companies out there who are providing hosting services for both the web as well as your email. There are many aspects that you’ll need to consider when deciding who to engage your web hosting with. Choosing the wrong or rather not so efficient service provider will effect your business overall, losing profits and interuption to the business cycle. We at Webthris Creative Studio have used many hosting companies, locally and also abroad. We now rent large amount of server space that are placed in the hubs of Cyberjaya, Malaysia. We have gone through alot of problems before when using other company’s web hosting, so we suggest that you consider the following points before deciding who to engage your website and email service to.

What is the hosting used for?

First of all, you’ll need to identify the reason you need the hosting space. Whether it’s for your personal use, or for a large business with huge repository space needed and so on. A small business may not require a large hosting plan. On the other hand, if you’re running a big business and in need of ecommerce features and so on, then you would need to consider bigger hosting spaces. Most company would have the comparison listed on their website for each plan types, you must study this thoroughly.

How much data transfer and disk space is offered?

This is a very important point, a disk space you can roughly know. For example a website with 10 or less pages with very few images would probably need a hosting space lesser than 100MB (Usually the minimum hosting space for most company). But the more important thing is the data transfer, if your website is getting alot of hits, and going to have alot of visitors, then you’ll need a hosting with alot of data transfer bandwidth. Without sufficient bandwidth, your website will be offline with a “Bandwidth Exceeded” error.

What are the Web hosting cost and setup fees?

We have placed the cost as 3rd under the priority list, most companies can afford a web hosting company, but they cannot afford the website they are hosting to be down. Once you determine a few hosting companies, you can then decide who is giving the best offer in terms of price. Also consider hidden setup fees. Most companies dont include a setup fees, but there are a few who do, so calculate all fees and decided whether it’s within your budget.

Is a customer support available?

Customer support is a vital service that you’ll need for your hosting. You wouldn’t know when the website or email might be down (most probably during their server maintenance sessions). A good hosting company always comes with a 24 hour support and a hotline number that is always accessable. Some company may also have a online chat feature (which is fast and you dont need to pay for expensive phone calls).

Is a Control Panel Available?

Webthris Creative Studio uses the cpanel as our hosting control panel, we have to pay a yearly license to provide this service to our clients. Cpanel is one of the leading control panel provider for hosting and has many easy to navigate features included. A control panel allows you to view the hit rates (website statistics on visitor), available space and bandwidth, other features such as blog, ecommerce portal and so on.

Are email accounts available?

Another aspect of the web hosting is the email support. Most hosting companies nowdays allows users to create as many email accounts as they want (depending on the hosting size that they purchased). POP and SMTP emails can also be configured under outlook express or accessed through a webmail link. Webthris Creative Studio offers these features.

There are few of the points that you may want to consider, as a webmaster you may also want to look for articles on hosting on the internet. Get your mind cleared of all issues before engaging to a company for your web hosting.

What Makes a Good Name Card?

I’ve had many customers who cannot decide what to include on their namecard. Some of them have too little information and others just want to cramp everything they can find. You may come up with many name card versions, just like Webthris Concepts, we’ve had nearly 10 editions to our name card design.

This is merely a list that I feel you should consider, or some vital details that should be included onto your name card or business card. The design alone is another issue, which you can read further on my previous blog, namely Business Cards That Work.

You have to remember that the name card not only works as a reference material to remember you, but it also acts as a marketing tool that attracts you to your customer. Most customer are going to stack your namecard on their desk, or even file it in a cupboard. The small unique difference and catchy name card design is going to be the reason that particular person cherish your name card dearly and probably keep it somewhere more meaningful, for example their wallet. Below are points that you should consider when creating or designing your name card.

  • Never Never ever forget to include your contact number or email address. If you have a website, include that link as well. Always have multiple ways of getting the customer to contact you. If you’re not able to answer a call, they will email you instead, so make sure these details are included on your name card.
  • Your name card must mention what are the nature of your business, what you’re specialized in. Take Webthris Name Card for example, we list down every services that we provide at the back portion of the name card. If there are too many things to list, select the most important or key products or services of your business.
  • Have a tag line, something that will attract customers to you, something unique that will remember you. examples would be “Money back guarantee”, “One stop printing solution”, “Name card experts”, “Banner King” absolutely anything that’s attractive.
  • Make sure that your name card is readable, don’t use fonts which are too small or too colorful. The important parts on the name card must be bolded or use a different font to highlight them. This includes the persons name and contact number.
  • Make sure the material used for your name card is strong, don’t use cheap or thin material where it tears easily. Don’t use too thick materials too, this may be hard for your customer to keep your name card in their wallet. Use lamination if possible, this makes the card waterproof and can last longer. The size of the name card should be standard too, so that it fits easily into a wallet or even a name card holder.

These are few of the important details you’ll need when deciding what to have on your namecards or business card. You can find more details regarding materials, sizes and prices regarding name cards on our website at www.webthris.com. Do add on to our comments if you have further details, we would like to hear your opinions.

Thank you and have a great day.

Business Cards That Work

Before we even create a website, before we even send out our brochures, what is the most vital device that keeps us in touch with our clients. The answer simply is, the namecard, also known as a business card. This is the most important tool that you’re going to ever create.

In this blog, based on my experience and expertise I’m going to explain to you what are the key points to consider when creating your very own namecard.

Use a logo
A logo is very important and this is the one that identifies your company. You can create your own logo or get a professional designer to do one for you. Your logo should symbolize the product or service that you are selling. For example, if you own a cafe, your logo should have a photo of a cup of coffee, photo of a fork n spoon and so on. You should keep the softcopy of your logo so that you can scale it to fit business cards, letterhead, brochures, and your website. Want to save on your logo creation? Try visiting LogoWorks.com, a very famous and cheap logo creation company on the internet.

Develop a one-line slogan
You should create a chatchy phrase for your company. Webthris Creative Studio carries the slogan “All Under One Roof” (We are considering to change this soon, maybe you can comment a slogan for us). The slogan should help your clients remember what you are selling and it should be on your namecard.

Include your website address and/or email address
Always give customers an option to know more about your company, this is where a website is vital. Have the link on your namecard, and always make sure that your website is complete, with contact details and so on. Visiting a website that says ”Under Construction” can be annoying. Some customers dont like to call a contact number just to get simple enquiry. This is where the email address comes in place. It allows customers to ask you anything, that some might be shy or reluctant to ask on the phone.

Make your card readable
Make sure that you use the correct font type and sizes. Using Italics may not be a good idea, and size 8 is a little too small. The average font size would be between 10 and 12 for details. Make sure that your logo is also viewable. Do not use too much red for fonts. Try to use your corporate color for your namecard. Remember, your business card is not just a work of art. It is also to clearly communicate what you do and how to reach you. If customers cannot read your information, you’ll lose sales.

Make your card stand out from the rest of the pack
Do something different that other namecard does not have (You can check my blog on “Cool and Elegant Namecard Design: Part 1” for samples). Make use of Spot UV, Matt Lamination, Curving Corners etc. Remember, your namecard is going to be on their desk with so many hundreds of others, make it stand out.

Have your business cards printed on good card-stock
Use good paper (Visit Webthris Namecard Details for a list of paper types and prices). Some materials are waterproof, some are thing and fit nicely in a wallet, so make sure you select what suits you best.

Print your own namecard if required
Offset printing of namecard would usually take 3-4 days and a digital print would take 1day. Some instant printing company may do it for you within hours. So plan your printing properly, and make sure that you have a good stock of namecard at hand. You’ll never know when you’ll need them. Print the namecard yourself, using your own printer if needed.

This are the list of simple but important issues when planning a namecard. Do make sure you consider them. Looking forward to your comments.
